Football mum's and dads - Tips for keeping warm

Updated: 5 days ago

The football season is well underway and many football mums and dads are braving the weather to cheer on their kids. Wind, rain and freezing temperatures won’t be stopping them. However toasty warm football fans are the best kind. What can you do to keep warm and remain comfortable throughout the football match?

Layer layer and more layers

"There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes''. Layers will insulate so build them up.. An undershirt ideally thermal, sweater and a windproof jacket or long coat. You want to ensure your legs stay warm so the longer coat the better. As an avid open water swimmer I rely on layers to warm up after my swims. The belly area gets particularly cold on those winter swims. However the clever Japanese got a solution for that: a haramaki. A core belly warmer. Check them out for extra warmth.

Finally but not least the eco-friendly and windproof Sittingsuits will be certain to keep you extra toasty and comfortable on that sideline. Layer up!

Moving

The kids will be warm as they are moving and running around. You should move too to keep warm. Walk up and down the sideline. Cheer and clap your hands in support of your team and children. Body heat is increased with movement because your body is being active, your heart rate is increasing.

Thermos

Get yourself a quality thermos and bring plenty of hot tea or coffee. Did you know you can get choco tea? It's absolutely stunning. Check out yogi choco tea for a treat. According to Professor Peter McNaughton, a neuroscientist at the University of Cambridge, when consuming hot beverages, such as tea or coffee, it will raise your core body temperature. Sip away and stay warm.

What other tips do you have to stay warm on the football pitch?

Kind regards

John
